The president-elect Barack Obama met Sunday with his family in Washington, to undertake the run up to the swearing of the January 20 that it become the first black U.S. president.
Later, the president-elect went from a caravan of vehicles to their temporary home in the Hay-Adams Hotel, opposite the White House. His wife, Michelle, and their two daughters _ Sasha and Malia to 7 years of 10_ made the same journey on Saturday.
Obama, 47, admitted that the troubled hours before leaving his hometown of Chicago.
"I have to say, I moved a little to leave my house today," said the president-elect to reporters aboard a government plane 757 typically used by vice presidents and first ladies.
The flight was the first made in a government aircraft since winning the elections on November 4, told attendees.
Obama said that was moved to see some photos of his daughter Malia, age 10, with his friends. "The house was empty. It was a bit difficult."
When asked if they wanted to get to Washington, Obama smiled and said yes, "although ¿live in a hotel for two weeks? So we were two years."
Obama came to the U.S. capital hours after his nominee as secretary of Commerce, the New Mexico governor Bill Richardson, declined the post amid an investigation of a panel investigating government contracts.
The federal jury investigates how a California company that helped with the political activities of Richardson won a state contract in New Mexico with a value exceeding one million dollars. Richardson is listed as one of the Hispanic presence in the Democratic Party.
Obama said in a statement it accepted "with regret" the decision to Richardson. Found that the governor antepuso the nation to avoid any delay in the appointment of those who occupy the ministerial post.
The president-elect has a busy weeks.
